You are most welcome to join me as I spend the next few months preparing for something most people wish they could do and forget that the only thing standing in their way is themselves.

I can't promise it'll be pretty though, there will be times when I wonder why I thought it was a good idea to do this. There could be some swearing (although normally when I'm out running) but hopefully, if you choose to sponsor me, then you'll see that I am working hard to ensure that your donation is well earned.

This is the start.

I sat up in bed last night writing my training timetable. I had my running magazines spread out in front of me and have worked out a plan that hasn't been as structured since my A-level revision timetable. So it's five nights a week of training and because of my running and racing this year, the first two weeks which is set at 7-8 miles is comfortably achieveable. It's only when I scan down to the final few weeks of training that 20-22 miles for one session seem like a mountain to climb.

The other 'mountain' is my sponsorship. I'm not running for the typically well-known charity but for a Liverpool-based organisation called Lasers for Life who research into the testing for treating people suffering from a wide range of serious conditions including cancers and Alzheimer's disease.

I started this blog so that my sponsors can keep an eye on my training and so I can prove to them that I have earned their donation.

I've already booked myself in for races again in February; one 10k and three 1/2 marathons (the latter of which I have never attempted) so I'd better get prepared. As part of my training in 2005 I supplimented my weekly running with a organised race each Sunday which gives me something to aim for. The winter period has been a bit quiet for me due to work commitments and darker nights but I've finally roped in some of my best friends to keep me company and keep me motivated when I would rather be indoors watching television.

Your support is most welcomed too and my blog is here to keep you posted about how things are progressing.

I'll keep you posted as much as possible and your support will be most welcomed.

ttfn

Susanne

My second 10k!

After three weeks of no training, I decided to venture forth and take on another 10k. This time in Boughton (Kent).

When they described the course as hilly, they weren't kidding! A negative mindset didn't help (didn't sleep very well the night before, couldn't stomach breakfast because I was nervous etc..) but I limped in on 1:08:33 which is better than before but I know I could have done a lot better.

This Saturday is a 10 mile run in Sittingbourne... and i'm still recovering from the 10k and a rugby game from Sunday... oooer!

My first 10k!

Having done a few 5k runs I thought I would venture forward and try out a 6k at Sandwich. I didn't realise until I arrived that there were also two other races; a 10k and a half-marathon. With half-marathons in mind for 2006 I thought I would upgrade and give a 10k a go.

With a sound finish of around 1hr 9mins 36secs I think that I did pretty well despite a short walk at 7k and being defeatist at 4k and knowing I could be doing something else at 8k.

When the 9k marker approached I had already settled into a steady pace, was nice and warm, and knew that I had to finish the race running as dad and Paul were there at the end.

My next race takes place next Sunday and is only a five miler. The difference in this race is it is fairly hilly and off-road so it should be a push on my calves and quads.

London Marathon 23rd April 2003

I am pleased to announce that I have been accepted to race on behalf of Lasers for Life in the London Flora Marathon 2006 on the 23rd April 2005.

This blog is to keep all of my sponsors up to date with my training efforts so that you can be sure that I am dedicated to proving my worthiness of your sponsorship.

Your support and contributions are truely appreciated.
